We had a top Bonsai workshop at the clubrooms in March.  Got our hands dirty and learnt lots.

Club secretary, Sandra McKenzie, had done all the organising and opened the day to the very enthusiatic audience and guest presenter.

Jim Haywood was a great speaker - informative and entertaining. He demonstrated lots of techniques and gave us the confidence to try them ourselves.

Before and after. Jim created this 'landscape in a tray' with thoughtful placement  of a hardy callistemon  and strategic pruning of roots and stems of the plant.  Easy when you watch an expert.
Over awed listeners having taken in a couple of hours of ideas and explanations.

Then down to the potting shed to have a go ourselves. Quite nerve wracking, but plenty of people to discuss options with.

The challenge now is to nurture the highly sculpted plants so they will continue to grow under our care.
